Me and my group are doing the Navajo tribe. Its going to be an interesting tribe. I will be doing the area and the environment that they lived in, customs and traditions, and art. This will be a cool web page. Enjoy the essay.

The area that the Navajos lived were Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, California, and Northern Mexico. When the Navajo people arrived they took the land in which the Pueblos had abandoned. The Navajos said that there were 4 sacred mountains of their homeland. They also said they will never leave them. They are called the Blanca Peak in Colorado, Mount Taylor in New Mexico, San Francisco Peaks in Arizona, and the Hesperus Mountains in Colorado. The environment that they lived in was horrible. The Navajos have health problems. Teenage Navajo girls get cancer by the time they are 17. This has been caused by the surroundings of air and the water supply.

One in every 2,500 children in the Navajo tribe has SCID. Its a condition where children with that have no Immune System. It's also effecting 100,000 children. They have a similar disease related to the Apache people. This is a disease Known as the bubble Boy disease. This mostly happens to children not adults. Children cannot fight the disease because of Artemis. This shows that they live in a very bad environment.

The arts of the Navajo people are pottery, Baskets, and Jewelry. There art are used for symbols to represent their ideas and beliefs, dreams, and visions. The pottery is used everyday. They are used for cooking, storage, bathing and religious ceremonies. Also they painted and carved with designs to tell alot of stories. The clothing they wore depended on what they did. They lived in a warm climate so they just wore little clothing. They would also dress in flowers and paint with feather headdresses.

The Navajo tradition and customs has been passed on for hundreds of years. The tribes spiritual belief is called the Navajo way. The Navajos perform sacred ceremonies. They preformed this ceremony to improve physical or mental health of an ailing patient. Also to mark milestones in a persons life. The storage has led to many extinctions.
